hip protectors and extremity guards, so little ones can stay active, adults independent, and

caregivers can enjoy peace of mind.  Plum's Award-Winning Falls SafetyWear™ products have

successfully prevented injury for over 20 years.

Our Beginnings

Plum Enterprises is a woman-owned small business, under FSS contract # 797P-4574a.

Janice Carrington founded Plum Enterprises in 1983, while researching head injuries and falls among very young children. After years of testing and development, Carrington developed ProtectaCap®, the unique, custom-fitting protective headgear for toddlers, the age group most at risk for head injuries. ProtectaCap® now protects individuals of all ages, from infants post brain surgery to individuals with epilepsy to adults with Parkinson’s.

In 1993, Carrington developed ProtectaHip®, the original hip protector, after pioneering awareness and research in the hip fracture epidemic. ProtectaHip® was recognized with the American Society on Aging Award in 2000.

Plum's Award-Winning Falls SafetyWear™ lines include ProtectaCap+Plus® advanced falls safety protective headgear, ProtectaHip+Plus® for extreme high risk fallers, ProtectaHip® Active Lounge Pants™, ProtectaHip® Active Lounge Shorts™ and ProtectaWrap®, the unique, adaptable extremity protector and splint. New products are in various stages of development.
